It’s hard to believe that we’re still absorbing the announcement of 12th Gen CPUs, motherboards, and DDR5 memory, and yet we’re discussing 13th generation Raptor Lake and 700 series chipsets! Every day, there’s something brand new for PC enthusiasts.

700 series motherboards have been currently in development and may be more advanced than anticipated. Biostar is already submitting the names of its new generation motherboards to Eurasian Economic Commission. The EEC oversees technical regulations, and this listing is an essential step towards getting allowed to sell in member states.

The list of boards includes Z790 and B760 motherboards. Apart from the board’s names and the motherboards, there’s not much other information we can take from the listing aside from the fact that it could be that 13th Gen and 700 series chipset motherboards may be a bit further away from release than we expected.

Raptor Lake and 700 Series motherboards won’t be expected to offer significant feature enhancements. The most important thing to be looking forward to will be PCIe 5.0 M.2 support. Although it’s not possible to find PCIe 5.0 drives on the market when they arrive with 600 series motherboards, will be required to use them using PCIe 4.0 modes or by using an add-in card to the PCIe 5.0 expansion slot.

Performance enhancements aren’t likely to be dramatic as well. Alongside the possibility of an increase in the size of caches or E core counts, There’s a chance that they’ll maintain DDR4 memory compatibility. They’ll likely make use of an improved Intel 7 (10nm SuperFin) process, which will either provide more core clocks or increase energy efficiency. Intel’s manufacturing capabilities are excellent, as shown by its Core i9 12900KS CPU launch that can reach 5.5 GHz.

13th Gen CPUs and accompanying motherboards are scheduled to launch later in the year. They’ll compete against AMD’s Zen 4 CPUs which are expected to release simultaneously.
