iPhone 15 Battery Capacities Revealed: Slightly Larger Than Predecessors, Pro Model Still Lags Behind
Chinese regulatory certification reveals that all four iPhone 15 models have slightly larger batteries than their predecessors, but the Pro model still has less battery than the regular iPhone 15.
Apple has a longstanding reputation for withholding the precise battery capacities of its devices from its specification sheets. This leaves those eager for exact figures awaiting the release of new iPhones and subsequent teardowns.
Alternatively, as is the case today, one can rely on China’s regulatory certification process for the latest models. This certification recently highlighted that all four iPhone 15 models boast marginally larger batteries than their predecessors. However, once again, the Pro model has less battery than the regular iPhone 15.
Here is a breakdown of the reported battery capacities for each iPhone 15 model:
- iPhone 15: 3,349 mAh
- iPhone 15 Plus: 4,383 mAh
- iPhone 15 Pro: 3,274 mAh
- iPhone 15 Pro Max: 4,422 mAh
While these increases are relatively small, they should still translate into slightly improved battery life for all iPhone 15 models. The iPhone 15 Pro Max now has a larger battery than the iPhone 14 Pro Max, which should address one of the few criticisms of that model.
It is still too early to say how much of a difference these battery capacity increases will make in real-world use. However, it is a positive sign for iPhone users, and it suggests that Apple is committed to improving the battery life of its devices.
