Starlink to Enable Smartphone Calls In Remote Areas Without Signal
Smartphone users worldwide, on both iPhone and Android, will soon make calls from any location, even remote areas, thanks to Elon Musk’s Starlink technology.
Starlink’s satellite network allows users to connect without traditional cell towers, using everyday devices instead of bulky satellite phones. The FCC recently approved SpaceX to provide cellular coverage for T-Mobile customers in areas lacking conventional service. Initial trials show compatibility with brands like Apple, Samsung, and Google, offering reliable connectivity in both outdoor and indoor spaces.
Starlink’s service works with older smartphones, ensuring access for all, especially in emergencies or regions without proper coverage. Unlike traditional satellite communications, Starlink’s satellites orbit much closer to Earth, reducing latency and enabling real-time communication and data streaming.
Despite astronomers’ concerns about its impact on stargazing, Starlink promises to revolutionize global communications, particularly for underserved or remote locations.
