Its Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 is a sleek, compact gaming notebook with extended battery life and a highly-required webcam. The display could be brighter, but it’s not necessarily more powerful than laptops equipped with similar parts, yet it usually is in line with them.

The majority of PC gamers are at a desk. Sometimes, you’d like to play on the top gaming Laptop in the field, or maybe you’d like your laptop to perform other tasks while you’re out. (Crazy, right?)

Its Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 ($1,599.99 at the beginning, roughly $2,499.99 according to tests) is among the few compact 14-inch gaming notebooks we’ve come across in recent years. The latest version of the model comes with AMD’s Ryzen 9 6900HS CPU and AMD’s Radeon RX 6800S graphics card. Since the laptop is equipped with AMD’s entire components, Asus can utilize the company’s features, such as Smart Access Memory and Smart Shift Max. However, Intel’s 12th Gen Chips and the NVIDIA RTX 30 series are still the main contenders.

With new features like those of the AniMe Matrix display that allows you to personalize the lid of your laptop with lighting, and the addition of a pet virtual within the Armoury Crate software, Asus has begun to stretch itself thin with its extra features. However, the basic features like a long battery lifespan and long battery life remain in place.

Thank God, there’s finally an internet camera.

Gaming and Graphics on the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14

The Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 is an “AMD Advantage” laptop, which is AMD’s name for laptops that use its GPU and CPU technology. In this instance, it’s an AMD Ryzen 6900HS and an AMD Radeon RX 6800S GPU. Together, they can use AMD’s SmartAccess Memory feature, which allows the processor to use the graphics card’s memory, and SmartShift Max, which moves power to the GPU when gaming and back to the CPU when performing tasks of productivity.

The Zephyrus that we tested also came with 32GB DDR5 RAM and 1TB m.2 NVMe PCIe Gen 4 SSD.

We compared it to that of Alienware x14 with an Intel Core i7–12700H processor and the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 and the previous season’s Razer Blade 14 with a Amd Ryzen

5800 as well as the RTX 3070. We also included our review of the Gigabyte Aorus 17XE4. It’s more substantial, measuring 17 inches, but it is close to the Zephyrus price. It comes with the Core i7–12700H processor, DDR4 memory, and the RTX 3070 Ti.

I played with my Zephyrus to play Guardians of the Galaxy that I’ve spent a lot of time with recently. The game was played with the computer’s 2560 x 1660 native resolution, partly to benefit from the aspect ratio of 16:10. When I used the extremely high graphics settings, the game would play between 120 and 140 frames per second. This means that the frames with the lowest frame rate benefited from this 120 Hz resolution.
